Abstract

The research data is increasingly important as modern research is becoming data-intensive. There has been national support for research data management (RDM) in some advanced countries since around 2010. In Korea, it was mandatory to submit the data management plan (DMP) for some national R&D projects through the revision of the Regulations on the Management of National R&D Projects in 2019. The goal of this article is to present DMP support services, one of the factors of research data management services, considering researcher’s service needs and the working conditions of Korean medical librarian. This study proposes that DMP services are divided into an online subject guides that provides the overall DMP creation guide and liaison services that provides education and consulting according to the method of providing the services. For each of them, detailed plans are presented through the literature research and case studies. Starting with the DMP support service proposed in this article, if RDM services over the entire data lifecycle are provided, it will contribute to expanding the service area of the Korean medical library as well as enhancing the expertise of medical librarian.
