Abstract

As it has become important to take into consideration research activities in evaluating researchers, researchers have managed their research work using the information system in organizations or research databases. But the current research management system has shortcomings: researchers are required to register their papers more than once; each researcher has different ways to use the system. All these require a global research management system. In this sense, ORCID comes in handy. ORCID is a global identifier system that allows researchers to import their record of activities and manage their research activities. This paper addresses the concept and need of ORCID and how to register research activities using ORCID. In addition, it gives examples of how ORCID was used. Lastly, this paper suggests a new direction in the management system of research activities using ORCID.
