Abstract
This study analyzed research trends in academic papers commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Journal of Korea Medical Library Association. The research data included 245 academic papers published between 1974 and 2022. The analysis criteria were four areas: research production volume and research type, research topic, and author status. For the research data, the researcher used a method of checking individual bibliographies and keyword network analysis, a type of quantitative bibliometric analysis. The analysis results are as follows. First, research production was divided into 10-year publication cycles, and the highest number of papers was produced in 1994∼2004, with a total of 77 papers. The production volume of papers has been maintained at an average of 36 papers, excluding publication cycles when the number of publications was rapidly high. Second, the type of research is initially published mainly as research bulletins and gradually changes to research papers. There are 99 research papers, and 38 have been produced since 2004. Third, the research topics in the early period from 1974 to 1992 were collection management, library management, and practical research, accounting for 80% of the production during that period. From the 2000s, practical research was the most popular, and data organization/collection management was the least popular research topic. Fourth, there were 44 co-authored research papers, which was low compared to 199 single-authored papers. However, due to the recent generalization of joint research, production has been slightly increasing since 2010.
