For this purpose, we need to examine the publication status of the medical school journals in Korea and to comprehensively analysis evaluation criteria of the index databases from Korea and abroad.

Methods:

The publication status of the medical school journals in Korea were extracted from the web sites of 40 colleges of medicine and MEdical Digital Library Information System (MEDLIS) and Korea Citation Index (KCI), Research Information Sharing Service (RISS). Also the evaluation criteria of the journals in Scopus, Web of Science, Korea Citation Index were analyzed and compared.

Results:

The common evaluation criteria of the journals are 3 categories and 9 items in Scopus, Web of Science, KCI. This is the minimum requirement for the journal to be registered. Quality evaluation of the journal is the major requirement for registration, in particular the citation criteria must be well met in Web of Science.
