Purpose:

Medical science researchers use various electronic resources to search the information for resear ch and clinical treatment purposes. However, they often are faced with challenges including difficulties in selecting appropriate e-resources and limited accessibility to certain databases, especially in using Korea n medical electronic resources.

Methods:

Thus we conducted with the investigation and evaluation of Korean medical electronic resources (10 sites).

Results:

As the results we resolved these difficulties and supported to service for medical scientists. Sugges tions were proposed for service enhancement. At first, we investigated ten electronic resources that are serviced Korean medical articles. And then we evaluated the usability and search efficiency of five major sites among them. Only the contents of KMbase and KoreaMed provided specialized databases in the medic al subject. Differences were not significant in evaluation results including interface functions and services. Search efficiency was tested by searching 17 words selected from foreign medical resources (National Guid eline Clearinghouse, Medline-Plus, PubMed). So, differences in search results were not significant.

Conclusion:

It is necessary to build and share the controlled author index and add the auto mapping search function like PubMed. Furthermore, it should be linked and shared the full-text of academic associations sites and institutional repositories holdings.
